Fundamentals
Please note that the questions and answers about classes and tuition pertain only to Centre Yoga’s classes and teachers (classes on the schedule that appear in pink). For classes and tuition for all other teachers, please communicate directly with them.
1. I would like to try a few classes at the Centre. How does that work?
You will find the information about Centre Yoga’s classes for each session on our schedule page. Under each teacher's name, you will find a link to a PDF document that provides all the information for each class. On the same document, you will also find information about drop-ins and how much they cost. Drop-ins give you the opportunity to try out our classes without having to commit to a full session. That way you can give yourself the time you need to become familiar with the Centre and see if it fits your needs.
2. Do I need to register first or can I just come to class?
We recommend students to register first if time permits. That way they make sure to have their spot reserved. If we are just a couple of days before your first class, then we recommend sending an email to info@centreyogaaylmer.com so that the teacher knows you are coming, and you can register on the day of your first class.
3. Do you accept drop-ins?
Centre Yoga enthusiastically encourages students to have a regular practice, since that is what will benefit the student the most. Therefore, classes are scheduled by session, students spots are secured by registration and session prices reflect this approach.
However, we do have exceptions. Space permitting and as long as the class corresponds to your level of expérience, we allow for drop-in students. 4. I have practiced yoga for many years, what level should I come to?
To know what level of practice is appropriate for you, it is important to consider what style of yoga you have practiced, how long you practiced and how regularly. You might want to come to a basics or try a level 1 (which is not beginner) to see how it feels. Then you can decide and even converse with the teacher to see what level would best support your practice.
5. Do you have daytime classes?
Every season Centre Yoga posts its schedule, which has a variety of classes both in the morning and in the evening (except in the summer when Centre Yoga has a lighter schedule). Consult our schedule and classe description pages and please take the time to see what class would interest you. Write to us at info@centreyogaaylmer.com or call us at 819-923-7077 for any additional information, or to sign up!
How do I get to the Centre Yoga studio?
6. Where is Centre Yoga located? Is it easy to find?
Centre Yoga Aylmer is located in the back of a red-brick victorian style house at 142 Frank Robinson Avenue in Aylmer, Gatineau. There is no sign.
Frank-Robinson Avenue Entrance : off Frank Robinson avenue walk through the driveway all the way to the wooden doors. One of them has a colorful glass spiral. Open the door and walk through, following the path to the white door that has the Centre Yoga logo. Walk right in!
Payment
7. I am registered to the session that is starting next. However, I would like to start right away. Is it possible to join the current session even if it is mid-way?
If students wish to, they can come to classes as drop-in students, space permitting. Information on drop-in classes is found on our schedule page (below the teacher's name on a pdf document). If there are still enough classes left in the session to make it worthwhile, an adjusted registration can be arranged.
8. I understand Centre Yoga’s classes are paid by session. When and how do I pay for my session?
We recommend students to register and pay for their session as soon as they know what class they want to do. Students generally like to pay by email transfer through their online banking system. Otherwise, we accept cash or checks made to the order of Centre Yoga. You can drop off your payment at the Centre anytime. Make sure to leave your name and class preference with your payment for easy reference. We recommend students to register and pay for their session as soon as they know what class they want to do.
Equipment
9. What kind of equipment do I need?
You will need a yoga mat and comfortable clothing. For your first āsana yoga classes you can borrow a yoga mat from the Centre. There is no extra charge.
When you are ready to purchase your own mat, we recommend you talk with some of the students and the teachers. There are a many types of mats and it would be good to know what you want and need before you invest.
Class attendance and make-up classes
10. Do I need to confirm my attendance to every class?
If you come to class only occasionally, then it is always a good idea to check with the teacher if there is room for you or to let them know you are coming. An email is enough. Though if it is very last minute, we recommend you just come. Chances are usually high that you will get a spot.
During the months of July and August when all classes are drop-ins, there is no need to check for availability. Just come.
11. If I can’t come to my regular class, should I let the Centre know?
It is always appreciated when a student lets us know they will miss a class. That way we can give the spot over to someone else if need be.
12. Can I make up missed classes?
You can make up your missed classes anytime within a given session. You can even make up classes in advance, if you know that you are leaving on a trip or won’t be available between certain dates. Please let your teacher know of your plans and check for space availability in the classes you are planning to attend to make up your missed classes.
