Spreading the Light of BKS Iyengar’s teachings

In honor of the Canada-wide Iyengar Yoga Appreciation Day

Sunday, April 14 - 10am to 12pm

Centre Yoga Aylmer

Way back in the 1950s, BKS Iyengar lit the lamp of Iyengar Yoga in the West when he travelled to England to teach.

Did you know that in Canada, this lamp is kept brightly lit by a beautiful organization composed solely of volunteers named the Iyengar Yoga Association of Canada (IYAC-ACYI)?

IYAC ensures Canadian teachers receive the education and are assessed and certified according to the guidelines set by the Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute in India. IYAC also generously serves Iyengar Yoga students by offering a range of free activities online to members.

On April 13 and 14 this year, IYAC-ACYI is celebrating  “Iyengar Yoga Appreciation Day”. Across the country small communities will be gathering for various events around Iyengar Yoga.

Why?

To raise awareness of the joys and benefits of Iyengar Yoga, and of how our national association (IYAC/ACYI) supports this work. Becoming an IYAC/ACYI member supports each and every Iyengar yoga class offered in Canada.

Eliot warmly invites you to join her at Centre Yoga on Sunday, April 14 from 10am to 12pm for a gathering and guided group practice in the spirit of “Spreading the Light of BKS Iyengar’s teachings”.

This is a free event. To register: email Eliot at info@centreyogaaylmer.com

BKS tells us, “Yoga alone is able to reach the richest and the poorest, the cities and the remotest countryside. No special place or paraphernalia are needed. Yoga requires only a will to do and the smallest, most ordinary space in which to be done.”
