Health & Community : November 2015

Sophie's morning favorite

Chocolate spinash smoothie!

The protein will keep you full, fibrous spinach toward your daily dose of greens, the chocolate is delicious for your soul, and the spices are anti-inflammatory!

  •  4 ice cubes
  • 1 scoop chocolate vegan protein (I love Vega!)
  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • 1 tbsp almond butter
  • handful of spinach
  • dash of cinnamon
  • dash of turmeric

Personnaly, I add less ice cubes, but experiment and enjoy!

This recipe was graciously offered by

Sophie Terrasse, teacher at the Centre Yoga Aylmer.

The Yoga of Trees: Trees to Expand Your Consciousness and Attune to Higher Qualities

A monthly series about the vibration of the month and using tree essences

November 2015

by Celine Cloutier and Hafiz

In Yoga, we tune in not just to our body-minds, but the life force known as Prana that sustains all organic life, including plants, flowers and trees. Eliot Acuna  and the other teachers at Centre Yoga Aylmer teach from the heart and that is one of the things that makes the centre so welcoming -  Eliot always reminds us of the qualities within us that we can cultivate such as gratitude.

Sugar Maples lose their leaves by November, part of the rhythm of nature. Bare of leafs you can see their wonderful structures and feel the flow of Qi.

The CentreYoga Aylmer carries Canadian Forest Tree Essences because they complement the inner work done in yoga. The Pranic energy contained in the tree essences helps us to resonate with our higher qualities. That is one of their most important roles and ways that we can benefit using them.

The dark nights, the oncoming cold and the bare landscape of November can bring a seasonal type of stress that impacts our Prana and emotions. We want to be mindful of not spiraling down, and maintaining harmony and a sense of lightness. Yoga and the trees essences are a perfect combination to expand our awareness and inner qualities, bringing out the best in us.

What essences complement our yoga practice at this time of year?  One is the Joyful Living Essence, which provides a matrix of energy that helps us help us tap into our inner resources and tune into the support of the life force throughout the darker season.

Look for these essences at the entranceway to Centre Yoga!

Next month, we look into the vibration of December and related Trees!

Namaste,

Celine Cloutier and Hafiz
